ISIS Reign of Terror is Biblical

Many people are outraged at the tactics being used by ISIS in the Mid-East. They go into a town and slay anyone who is not with them. They kill entire families... women, children, infants, old people... everyone. Actually, Joshua was worse. His God instructed him to kill everything in Jericho that breathes. So not only did he kill all the people, but also all of the livestock and pets. Later in his campaign, they were a little merciful. The kept the young girls alive (after killing their mothers, fathers and brothers) so they could become slaves in their concubine. They did have to shave their heads and pare their nails (meaning, cut them down to quick - very short) so they could fight back while being raped.

Did Jesus Commit Suicide?

The Old Testament was written by God (Jesus) and in it he tells the Jews to slay anyone who tries to change their religion. So, God (a.k.a. Jesus) gave this Law to the Jews and expected them to follow it.
Then he took on human form and went down to these people and tried to change their religion.
Did he not know (of course he did, he's omniscient) that they would crucify him? So, in effect, he allowed his own suffering and death to occur. It's like her wanted it to happen. So, if someoen wants their death to happen, don't we call that suicide?

Reading Ingersoll

I've recently (within the last 4 mos.) found Robert Green Ingersoll's writings.  I like most of what he writes, especially the stuff on religion and such. His writing is thought provoking and offers some good arguments that can be used against the religious right. For those interested, you should Google him - interesting titles include "Mistakes of Moses", "What's God got to do with it?", and more.

Just Not Enough Nothing

I was reading a bit of Robert G. Ingersoll and he pointed out something that I hadn't realized.  God created the universe and man out of NOTHING.  However, when it came time to make woman, he had to take one of Adam's ribs to do so. Why couldn't he just use some more NOTHING?  Perhaps, he was trying to emphasize woman's dependency on man. Because in this case, woman would not exist if it hadn't been for man. Also, after creating woman, God brought her before man for his approval. I mean like, if man didn't approve, would God have destroyed the first model and tried another? It didn't matter what the woman thought. 

What is an Alien?

What is an Alien?

Some being that is not of this Earth but can control everything on the planet and know what is in everybody's mind. The being can also control everyday events. This being also knows the entire future and past and is all powerful.

We are all at the mercy of this being. This being claims to have created the very planet that we live on.  This being is perfect - but this being can get jealous and angry - so, how perfect can he/she be?

Oh well, go figure!

Obama and Paying Taxes

Well, I'm glad Obama won. I'm not naive enough to think that my taxes won't go up. I'm sure they will. However, I'd rather pay higher taxes under Obama than under Romney.  I think Romney would have reverted to the old ways of Reagan and the Bushes.  I think that's what got us into the economic mess to begin with. Maybe I'm wrong, but time will tell.

Well, they are obviously out of touch with the current US.  The minorities ( blacks and hispanics) are a noteworthy force today.  The US has always been a nation of immigrants.  Those immigrants have note always been welcomed. There was a lot of prejudice against the Germans, Polish, Irish and Italians when they immigrated in large numbers.  They also brought about changes in our culture.

I think the Republicans have to face the fact that the US population is a dynamic thing. It changes and will keep changing.  The ideas and values change as well. And that is how it should be!
